Internship - Social Work

Social work is a gratifying profession that allows you to say at the end of each day, “I made a difference in someone’s life. On a daily basis as a social worker, you’ll be challenged as you help people navigate a wide range of positive and negative stressors.  You will partake in  on-the-job training in the field of social work. You will usually be assigned to do administrative or clerical activities such as sorting through files, updating records, organizing documents, and filing reports. Aside from clerical tasks, you may also get exposed to program or project management by working on program-specific initiatives.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with partners including public and private agencies to achieve permanency for children.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to provide necessary referrals and counselling to achieve establish patient goals.
  • Participate in program development relate to identify needs
  • Secure and refer needed resources.
  • Monitor timely completion of all reports, progress notes and maintenance of chart to ensure all necessary compliance
  • Attend to educational and vocational needs by attending meetings, assisting with summer job applications.
  • Facilitate family collaboration, and participate in meetings.
  • Develop and facilitate a successful parent and child oncology support group.
  • Complete program documentation as well as participate in supervision.
